Some of the Products we have at Apro Mining

We produce materials essential for human progress.

Iron Ore

Today, we produce five iron ore products in Western Australia – including the Pilbara Blend, the world’s most recognised brand of iron ore – used in steelworks as sinter plant feed or direct blast furnace feed.

Aluminum

We are a global leader in aluminium, with a large-scale, vertically-integrated business: bauxite mines and alumina refineries as well as smelters producing aluminium certified as responsible.

Copper

Our very first mine was a copper mine on the banks of the Apro Mining river, in Andalusia, Spain – bought in 1973 by a South African investor group led by Scottish entrepreneur Hugh Matheson.

Lithium

Our process involves roasting and leaching waste rock to recover lithium. Since it involves separating lithium from waste rock that has already been mined, this breakthrough process is a more sustainable alternative to other sources of lithium supply.

Diamonds

Today, our white and coloured diamonds are some of the world’s most sought-after gems. In November 2020, mining ceased at Argyle, after 37 years of operations and producing more than 865 million carats of rough diamonds.

Borates

The mule teams, that hauled borates out of our original mines in Death Valley, are long gone but the symbol endures in the 20 Mule Team® Borax product brand

Salts

Our Dampier Salt operations in Western Australia are the world’s largest exporter of seaborne salt – meaning salt that is produced from evaporating seawater, as opposed to being mined as a solid mineral.

Titanium Dioxide

Titanium dioxide is a very white, opaque compound, used as a pigment in paints, plastics and paper. It is also used to produce toothpaste, sunscreen and cosmetics.
